Why do you pay for comic trade protection for all your trades?


How many times have you heard about, or worse it happens to you, where a too good to be true trade is finalized by the two parties. Since there is no way to determine who should send first both parties send at the “same time”. Days go by and one person waits by the mail… but nothing comes! Scammed.

What can be done, honestly? You can fight with the Post Office and sending party, threaten with authorities, and file Mail Fraud but in the end it’s a con game and you probably will end up with a huge headache and nothing to show for it.

We at Fenix Flame Comics have seen numerous posts about these situations, bad traders and overall disappointed deals which constantly raise alarms throughout the comic community and we’re plain sick of them. Sure there, are posts and/or groups out there which “attempt” to stop these situations from happening, but unfortunately by the time a scammer has been called out, flagged or banned from trading, it’s too late. They’ve already taken cash, books or both and your trust and pride.

In an effort to keep the community safe and to promote clean and honest trading, Fenix Flame Comics introduces a service unlike any other before it. We call it the FFC Trade Protection Program.
Maybe you’ve heard of middle men programs where you send your half of a trade to a certain person and when the middle man receives both ends of the trade he sends them off on their opposite ways. Well, there isn’t a site or service on the internet we’ve yet to find that offers protection for our precious comics we’ve worked so hard to get. That being said, we've gone a taken the middle man "service" a step further. There are two ways this works:

Book to Book Trades (B2B Trades)

--- You and John Doe work out a trade through your preferred contact method.

--- When you have negotiated your trade to finality and you are ready to send your trade out, both of you need to come up with a reference number. (This will be explained in a sec.)

--- Now purchase a FFC Trade Protection Service from the Fenix Flame Comics Online Shop. The service is only $5.50 from each trader in the trade. Be sure to include your trade reference number in the memo section of the payment so we know what trade you are paying for. UNDERSTAND: If we receive a trade with no payment, we will hold that end of the trade until the trade fee has been paid. If the other end of the trade has paid their fee, we will send their end out as per the trade. If the trade fee is not received within 6 months of the item’s arrival, we will consider the item(s) abandoned and keep the item(s).

--- When paying, be sure to include the terms of your trade (i.e. book(s) in the trade, the grade(s) of the book(s), etc.)

--- Once you have purchased a service, pack up your books and include the following and please make sure you write legibly. If you cannot accomplish writing legibly, we recommend you type out and print the required information:

--- PUT THE REFERENCE NUMBER ON THE BACKING BOARD OF EACH COMIC AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHIPPING BOX. The reason for this is so we have a reference of what books belong in what trade if something gets mixed up. Just another step to making sure your trade is secure. If you don’t put the reference number on the backing board and box, your trade will take significantly longer as we have to check every incoming package for the other end of the trade and you could possibly run out of the 2 week time window.

--- A note with the following: Your real name (no forum or internet names) and your email address.

--- The items and grades you are trading. (Kind of important)

--- A self-addressed and prepaid return shipping method (box, envelope, etc.).

--- Mail them to the below address:

--- Once all ends of the trade arrive at FFC, we will partner them together and open them.

--- WE WILL NOT OPEN A BOX UNTIL THE OTHER END(S) OF THE TRADE ARE THERE.

--- We then verify the sides of the trade and verify the grades are a match. If we have any questions, we will contact you via email to verify our question to be resolved.

--- If everything is in order, we will put the trades into their respective return postage paid container and take them to the PO. We recommend you use Priority Mail labels and/or flat rate envelopes so there is tracking numbers connected to your purchase. We will NOT, REPEAT, WILL NOT ship anything with a Media Mail return postage. The Post Office doesn’t allow it around here and that type of shipping is extremely rough on the books.

--- If extra shipping is needed for your return shipment, we will contact you via email and invoice you for the cost of shipping plus a $2 service charge due to PayPal fees. Simply put, just make sure you have enough postage on the package and you have nothing to worry about.

--- If everything is not on order, we do not receive both ends of the trade or something is not correct, we will contact both of you and see about taking actions to rectify the situation.

--- If the situation is not able to be resolved within 2 weeks of the final half of the trade being received by us, we will use the self-addressed / prepaid postage to return all items back to their original owners and the trade will be void.

--- Whether a trade is successful or void, the service fees are NOT refunded.[/list]

Book to Cash Trades (B2C Trades)

For the end of the trade selling the physical item(s), please reference the above process for your end.

--- You and John Doe work out a trade through your preferred contact method.

--- When you have negotiated your trade to finality and you are ready to send your trade out, both of you need to come up with a reference number. (This will be explained in a sec.)

--- The service is only $5.50 from each trader in the trade. Be sure to include your trade reference number in the memo section of the payment so we know what trade you are paying for. UNDERSTAND: If we receive a trade with no payment, we will hold that end of the trade until the trade fee has been paid. If the other end of the trade has paid their fee, we will send their end out as per the trade. If the trade fee is not received within 6 months of the item’s arrival, we will consider the item(s) abandoned and keep the item(s).

--- Once you have purchased a service, get a cashier’s check or money order (NO CASH) and write the name of the person you are buying from in the “To” section AND INCLUDE YOURSELF. Do NOT write Fenix Flame Comics or any of our employees.

Example: To: ______“John Doe or John Adams_______

The reason for this is on the off chance the trade falls through you can still cash the check once it’s returned to you.
